Samuel Linzan - Cello, Piano

Samuel Linzan has been studying cello since the age of 8 in his hometown of Guayaquil, Ecuador. At the age of 13, he came to the United States where he received the opportunity to further develop his technique and discovered the profound love he now has for music.

As a young cellist, he began his solo and orchestral experience as a cellist for the OSJG orchestra in Guayaquil. With the orchestra, he travelled throughout the country to major cities such as Quito and Cuenca to perform recitals and orchestral concerts. After coming to the United States, he obtained full scholarship for the Michael P. Hammond Preparatory Program at the Shepherd School of Music to study under Cornelia Watkins. Here, he gained more experience by playing several recitals each semester and being coached in chamber music. The Hammond Preparatory Program also enabled him to obtain masterclasses from acclaimed cello professors such as Christopher French.

In 2017, Linzan cofounded the Lauremille String Quartet through which he found success within the Houston musical community. They competed in the Houston’s Young Artist Concert in 2017 and won the chamber music category, which allowed them to showcase their success in various venues around the city.

Currently, Sam is completing his bachelor’s degree in Music Performance at the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music. His mission is to spread his love for music by teaching his students great technique, musical interpretation, and how to express emotional intention through classical performance. Outside of music, Sam loves to spend time with his family and friends, playing sports, and even playing board games.

Mr. Sam is at the studio on Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
